theWoman Astronomer is about women and astronomy. We strive to spark interest in astronomy through profiles of the inspirational lives of women astronomers, professional and amateur. Feature articles on historical women astronomers and columns by modern women astronomers offer insight into the possibilities of our own lives. These are the kind of stories we're looking for.

Features

Historical Women Astronomers. Features historical women in the science of astronomy. Typically, we are looking for biographies of their lives, as well as their astronomy-related accomplishments. Examples: Hypatia, Maria Mitchell, Annie Jumps Canon. Supply sources, as well as additional reading. Text length, 1,000 to 2,500 words.

Modern Women Astronomers. Features modern women astronomers and may be biographical in nature or news related. Written as a descriptive or an interview. Examples: Vera Rubins, Donna Shirley, Dr. Mae Jemison. Supply sources, as well as additional reading. Text length, 1,000 to 2,500 words.

Women and Astronomy. Features a broader approach to women and astronomy. This is a diverse category and may include features on groups, observatories, research, or just about anything else. Examples: Women of Harvard, Women on the Moon, Maria Mitchell Observatory. Supply sources, as well as additional reading. Text length, 1,000 to 2,500 words.

Columns

AstroWoman News. Articles of current events about women and science, particularly astronomy-related, often obtained from press releases. Text length, 300 to 1,000 words.

Forum. This is a catch-all column. If it doesn't fit anywhere else, it goes here. Text length, 500 to 1,500 words.

Hobby. Articles about the hobby of astronomy, including the equipment, observing, techniques, etc. Text length, 500 to 1,500 words.

Science. Articles about the exciting, and changing, science of astronomy. Supply sources. Text length, 500 to 1,500 words.

Woman Amateur Astronomer. Personal experiences of woman amateur astronomers (key word here is personal). Text length, 500 to 1,500 words.
