Welcome!
There is an old proverb (isn't there always?) that says, "Women hold up half of the sky." If that's the case, why are there so few women astronomers and hobbyists?

Welcome to theWoman Astronomer, a site promoting astronomy to all (and yes, the target audience is women and girls, but guys are certainly welcome, too).

The mission of theWoman Astronomer is to promote astronomy as a hobby and science, to encourage women and girls interested in astronomy, and to be a resource to the astronomy community and the public at large. This Web site strives to spark interest in astronomy through profiles of the inspirational lives of women astronomers, professional and amateur, past and present.

theWoman Astronomer seeks to be a source of women role models in astronomy...a Web site that educates and motivates into the 21st Century.

Thank you for visiting this site. Please bookmark our site and come visit us again to see what changes and updates have been made. See you soon.

Clear skies,
Debra L. Davis
